Services

Welcome to my practice. I offer personalized, individual counseling designed to support both adults and adolescents in their journey towards mental and emotional well-being. Serving the Greater Orlando and Central Florida area, my goal is to create a safe and compassionate space where you can explore and address the issues that matter most to you.

In our sessions together, you'll receive individualized attention tailored to your unique needs and goals. Whether you are dealing with specific challenges or seeking personal growth, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Alongside traditional mental health counseling, I also offer specialized services in Music Therapy and Advanced Vocal Psychotherapy. These modalities can be integrated into your mental health journey or used as standalone approaches, depending on your preferences and needs. Music therapy and vocal psychotherapy provide innovative avenues for self-expression and emotional healing, enhancing your therapeutic experience with creative and expressive techniques.

Social Justice Orientation

In my practice, I am dedicated to a social justice orientation that shapes how I approach therapy. I strive to provide therapy from a perspective that promotes inclusivity, affirmation, compassion, and liberation for all individuals. I do my best to remain mindful of the impacts of historical and systemic marginalization of certain groups. I believe that addressing mental health is inherently linked to understanding and challenging systemic inequalities and injustices.

This includes:

  • Advocating for Equity: I strive to create a therapeutic space that recognizes and addresses the impact of social and systemic factors on your mental health. This includes advocating inside the therapy room and outside of it for fair treatment and resources for marginalized and underrepresented groups.

  • Addressing Systemic Issues: I integrate an awareness of social, economic, and political factors that may influence your well-being, and work collaboratively with you to address these challenges in our sessions.

  • Promoting Inclusivity: My practice is grounded in respecting and valuing diverse perspectives and experiences. I aim to foster an inclusive environment where all clients feel heard, respected, and supported.

  • Providing Constructive Feedback: I gently address and provide feedback on language or behaviors that may be harmful to marginalized groups, regardless of whether you have direct connections to those affected. This is done with sensitivity and respect, aiming to foster greater awareness and growth. Acknowledging my humanness, I kindly ask you to do the same for me.

  • Recognizing the Political Nature of Therapy: Therapy is inherently political, as it involves understanding and addressing the broader societal and systemic contexts that impact individual and collective well-being.

By incorporating these principles into our work together, I aim to help you navigate not only personal challenges but also the broader social factors that may impact your mental health and overall life experience.

Therapeutic Approaches

In our work together, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to provide a comprehensive and supportive experience. As a licensed mental health counselor and board-certified music therapist, I value the integration of music therapy into sessions whenever it is beneficial. My approach is rooted in the following:

  • Person-Centered, Humanistic, and Holistic Theories: Emphasizing your unique experiences and potential for growth.

  • Relational-Cultural Therapy: Fostering a nurturing and understanding environment by focusing on the importance of relationships and cultural context.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Ensuring that our work is sensitive to past traumas and promotes safety and trust.

  • Culturally-Informed Practice: Respecting and integrating your cultural background into the therapeutic process to provide a more inclusive and relevant experience.

  • Feminist Theories: Addressing power dynamics, gender issues, and social justice concerns, aiming to empower you and support your agency within a broader societal context.

  • Psychodynamic Insights: Examining how past experiences and unconscious thoughts influence your current emotions and behaviors, helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

This varied blend of approaches aims to support personal growth and healing through a well-rounded and compassionate framework.

Special Focus Areas

I have a particular focus on trauma, anxiety, and depression, and I value working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, especially clients who are biracial or multiracial like myself. Naming my practice after the Filipino core value of Kapwa, my approach is grounded in genuine human connection, and I welcome humor and authenticity in our sessions.
